The key to glowing, smooth, and healthy skin lies within its care and the products you use. In achieving thriving skin, sugar scrubs are a silk wrapped gift granted upon you from the skincare gods. This homemade sugar scrub recipe is skin altering and simple, containing only three common household ingredients: sugar, olive oil, and vanilla extract.
When it comes to sugar, the common argument tends to be that it has negative effects on the skin, however, when used externally, its effects are quite the contrary. Sugar naturally draws moisture from the surrounding environment that clings onto the skin. It is also a natural derivative of glycolic acid, boosting skin’s generation quicker and smoothing damaged tissue layers, including wrinkles. Oh sugar, even your skin can’t help but love this sweet treat!
Being a beneficial source of fatty acids, olive oil is one of the healthier fats to include in your diet and your skincare routine. As it’s filled with vitamin E, olive oil’s healing properties also fight the skin’s aging process through blocking free radicals, which are a cause of damaged skins cells. Not to mention, olive oil moisturizes the skin deeply and efficiently. Vanilla extract contains similar healing properties, as it is a source of antioxidants, which many people are unaware of. Plus, it smells absolutely delightful! Here lies the recipe to naturally beautiful and healthy skin, what more could you ask for?
In a bowl add 1/3 cup of cane sugar
1/4 cup of olive oil
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Mix ingredients together until combined.
Apply/scrub onto dry skin (if your skin is extremely sensitive, apply to damp skin).
Rinse and dry.
